Approaching our centenary in 2029, Canberra Grammar School stands as one of Australia’s leading independent co-educational schools, uniting nearly 100 years of tradition with a bold vision for the future.
As an Anglican day and boarding school for students from Pre-School to Year 12, we believe that a co-educational environment best prepares young people for the world beyond school where collaboration, equality, and respect are fundamental to success.
Our inclusive and globally minded community brings together students from more than 40 nations to learn, live and grow with purpose. Set on a magnificent campus in Canberra’s inner south, CGS offers exceptional academic, co-curricular and pastoral opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion in every student preparing them to thrive as citizens of the world.
We encourage students to develop critical-thinking skills, confidence in leadership, and the ability to find creative solutions in an increasingly complex world—while remaining active and compassionate citizens. Located on our Red Hill campus, the Senior School features outstanding facilities that support academic, co-curricular, and pastoral programmes.
Strong, respectful relationships underpin success. By truly knowing our students, setting high expectations, and fostering a global outlook, we empower them to find their place in the world.

Is there a budding writer or passionate bookworm in your family?
Join us next Wednesday 4 March for our first Author Spotlight Series of the year featuring bestselling Australian author Jack Heath.
Born in Sydney and raised in Canberra, Jack wrote his first novel at just 13 and submitted a manuscript for publication while still a teenager! A few years later, his debut novel 'The Lab' became a bestseller, and he hasn’t looked back since.
From 5:00pm to 6:30pm, enjoy an engaging author talk and Q&A, followed by a book signing and pop-up bookstore. With books for young readers and adults alike, including Kill Your Boss, currently being enjoyed by our P&F Book Club (no bosses harmed!), there’s something for everyone.
This event is open to all members of the CGS community, including staff, students (K-12) and families. Spots are filling quickly! Book now via the link: tinyurl.com/jksrxm9c ... See MoreSee Less

Yesterday, students from the CGS String Orchestra had the privilege of working with Dr Joanne Heaton, Head of Bands at Haileybury (Melbourne), during a full day visit to Canberra Grammar School.
Our students took on the role of demonstration ensemble in a conducting clinic, providing a fantastic platform for practical learning, while staff benefited from individual conducting lessons and a specialised session focused on ensemble technique.
A big thank you to Dr Heaton for so generously sharing your expertise and insight with our students and staff. It was a truly valuable and enriching day for us all. ... See MoreSee Less
Last week, as part of the Year 7 Outdoor Education Programme, our Year 7 students headed off to Killalea Regional Park for an unforgettable three-day camp experience.
Just three weeks into their Senior School journey, the camp provided the perfect opportunity for students to connect, challenge themselves, and grow together. Across the three days, students embraced a wide range of activities including bushwalking, canoeing, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, swimming, camping, cooking and more.
Each experience pushed students beyond their comfort zones, encouraged resilience and teamwork, and created special bonding moments that have already helped strengthen the cohort. It was wonderful to see friendships forming, confidence growing, and our Year 7 students stepping into Senior School life with enthusiasm and courage. ... See MoreSee Less
