What is RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a text based format that simply updates a list of items that is subscribed to by the reader. Many items can be syndicated via RSS as it simply updates the recent changes on the website.

RSS allows anyone to subscribe to a website to receive updates on items such as news, blogs or any updated content. When you subscribe to an RSS feed, new stories and updates are automatically delivered to you the moment they are published.

To subscribe to RSS websites, you need to download news reader software or use a Web-based news reader. This allows you to access all your feeds in one convenient location. A program known as a feed reader or aggregator is used to update a list of feeds of behalf of a user and displays any updated articles that is recorded.

RSS programs are available for various operating systems. Many Internet browsers have integrated support for RSS feeds. Internet Browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and programs such as RSS Reader provide simple syndication services. RSSReader collects updates in the background at selected intervals and warns the user of new updates with a small popup in the system tray.

Many websites now have the option of allowing users to subscribe to RSS feeds. These feeds are typically linked with the word “Subscribe”, with an orange squareImage, or with the lettersImageorImage
