The Senior School community gathered this morning in the War Memorial Hall to hear the Prime Minister say Sorry to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Junior School students and staff engaged class by class in discussng the issues and many of our younger students watched it live.
In the days leading up to this momentous day in Australian history, students throughout the School have heard Mr Jeff Knowles talk about the nature of an apology and the importance of understanding the impact that both giving and receiving one can have on us as individuals and as a community. The significance of this event will be followed up during RaVE classes across the School and in Chapel services throughout the week.
Symbolic recognition of the day is reflected by the flags flying in the Quad.
Mr Dillon's addressed the Senior School on Tuesday and his speech is available here: icd_-_rudd_apology_feb_2008
