Eisteddfod Success for Senior and Junior Bands
Thursday, 05 June 2008

The Combined Grammar Schools' Concert Band Program experienced four outstanding successes at the National Eisteddfod last weekend.

The bands performed in the new acoustic of the refurbished Llewellyn Hall, ANU to the delight of the audience. Each ensemble performed across the long day, stretching from 9am to 10pm. They heard like ensembles in their respective age groups, and recieved many words of encouragement from the adjudicators.

The ensembles performed repertoire appropriate for their educational development and the experience was treated as an opportunity to perform rather than as a competition.

The results were a 'bonus'!
Hultgren Concert Band-16 years and under C Grade - Gold Award
Stanhope Concert Band -16 years and under B Grade - Gold Award
Grainger Concert Band -18 years and under B Grade - Silver Award
Symphonic Wind Band - Open B Grade - First place Overall

And young musicians from the Junior School also achieved great success in the Eisteddfod.

The Junior School Concert Band - Gold award
Junior/Senior Stage Band - Gold award

The adjudicators commended the Grammar Schools' bands on their presentation, musicality and direction.
Recordings will be placed on Studywiz this week.

Congratulations everyone.
