Primary School Pastoral Care |

Canberra Grammar Primary School cares for children and for their families. It is important to us that each one of our children is given the opportunity to develop a sense of wonder about their world and a sense of mastery within it. We know that boys and girls do this best when they feel happy and secure; and that strong relationships are the key to developing wellbeing.
Strong relationships are about partnership and dialogue and we offer a school community built on partnership. From the first day to the last, relationships between children, parents and staff are carefully and thoughtfully nurtured. We help children to feel good about themselves and their relationships with others in many different ways:
- By celebrating achievement in every sense and recognising the value of the journey well travelled.
- By celebrating individual events that are of significance to them, for example birthdays and special family events.
- By developing the confidence to embark on new intellectual, physical, cultural, spiritual or social endeavours.
- Through language and thinking that develop emotional resiliency and the ability to deal with life.
- Through the promotion of values and attitudes that build mutual regard and respect.
- By providing clear expectations regarding behaviour and employing a firm, fair approach to dealing with issues.
- By building belonging, for example through membership of a Class, Peer Support group, team or House.
- By creating opportunities to accept responsibility and to serve others, for example as a monitor in the playground, a Sports Leader or a House Captain.
