Rapper ,Omar Musa, Sheaffe House ('01) is one of six winners of the 2007 Realise Your Dreams awards held by the British Council, the country's international organization for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
Omar was chosen from 260 entries to win the $10,000 scholarship. The British Council will use its powerful network to find each of the winners suitable mentors and money-can't- buy work experience.
Omar, 23, wants to work in England with rappers Dizzee Rascal and The Streets.
My ideal is to promote poetry in Australia. I think a lot of people have lost the love of the English language and hip hop is a great way to bring them back to it. It’s fun, accessible, exciting. It's the most important form of poetry in the world.
