Get together with other parents and friends who would like to help the CGS Music
Department to expand our children's musical experience.
The CGS Music Society has been formed to continue and expand on the excellent work
done over the past many years by the John Barrett Scholarship Committee. The vision
of the Society is to provide ongoing support for the John Barrett Scholarships and
support music throughout the entire School, using the array of talents that parents
and friends can provide (and to have an enjoyable time in the process).
If you are not familiar with the CGS Music Scholarships please see the
Music Scholarship Program page.
The Society is open to all, whether you are relatives, CGS Old Boys or friends of the
CGS Music program. There are no Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers etc, just interested
and willing hands and minds who may be able to assist with activities from time to time.
Some areas where the Music Society may provide assistance:
- Catering: organising and selling refreshments required at concerts and fundraising
events for both the audience and performers.
- Publicising music events: e.g. to the School community, wider ACT, newspapers,
TV, radio, School website, etc.
- Logistic support: front of house, assisting the music staff backstage, administrative
support for the Music Department on an as needed basis.
- Fundraising activities: supporting, instigating and organising a range of fundraising
activities for the John Barrett Scholarship Fund, as well as specifically targeted Music
Department activities.
