For students who show a particular aptitude, individual instrumental tuition is available as an enrichment of the formal academic curriculum.

Tuition is arranged between parents and the individual teachers. Please refer to the faculty information sheets for contact details and the instruments taught by our various teachers. You will be billed directly by the teacher. Lessons take place once a week during school time.

Lessons are usually 30 minutes. Students can be entered for AMEB exams through the school, please speak to your child's teacher to discuss the requirements.

FREE TUITION
Limited free group tuition is available on certain instruments for students in Years 3 to 6. These lessons are for one term only to introduce students to the instrument. Suitability for free lessons is strictly at the discretion of the Head of Primary Music. For Year 3 students this tuition is available for violin, viola, cello or recorder. Students in Years 4 - 6 may also choose from trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium, flute, clarinet, viola, bassoon and oboe. Standard instrument hire charges apply.

SUBSIDISED TUITION
Students in the Senior School may apply for subsidised tuition on a range of instruments, these lessons are designed to introduce students to instruments they may otherwise not have an opportunity to experience.

Fees for these lessons will be $145 inc. GST per semester. Instrument hire is additional. Subsidised lessons will be initially for one semester, but may continue to be subsidised for up to one year, at the discretion of the Director of Music, subject to satisfactory progress

HIRE
Limited numbers of instruments are available for hire at a charge of $90 per semester (plus GST). Parents are responsible for loss or damage to an instrument while in their son's possession, even while at school. We strongly suggest the instrument be included in your household insurance policy. An instrument may be recalled if a boy is negligent or malicious in his treatment of it. The Music Department strongly recommends that after 2 years of study a student should acquire their own instrument. The school does not hire pianos, recorders, guitars or percussion.
