Enrolling at CGS

The best way to learn more about the School is to visit us when you can experience the culture of Canberra Grammar first hand. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions and to meet some of the staff and confirm your choice of Canberra Grammar for your child.

Enrolment Procedures

Having made the decision to enrol your child at the School, there are a number of steps that will need to be completed by yourself and the School.

Registration

An Application for Registration form needs to be completed and returned to the School with the registration fee of $150.00. The Admissions Office will acknowledge your application and your child's name will be registered on the waiting list, in chronological order of receipt, for the level of entry nominated. Unfortunately registration cannot be taken as a guarantee of enrolment at this stage.

The Year Before Entry

In the year prior to desired entry of your child, or earlier as appropriate, your child will be invited for aptitude testing and/or an interview. Children entering Pre-School to Year 2 attend an interview with the relevant Director of Early Childhood Development. Boys entering Junior School (Years 3 to 6) are interviewed by the Head of the Primary School, while boys entering the Senior School (Years 7 to 11) are asked to attend a testing session and in some cases an interview.

Offer of Place and Acceptance

Subject to vacancy and satisfactory testing and/or interview, your child will be offered a place. At this point you are asked to complete the Offer and Acceptance Form and pay the Student Capital Charge to confirm your acceptance of the place.

Parent Briefing and Welcome to New Students

The term before your child is to commence, we will contact you with details of parents' briefing sessions and the program for welcoming new students.
