Rugby Association
CGS Rugby Association (Parents):
The Canberra Grammar School Rugby Association (CGSRA):
- Assists the CGS in the promotion and running of Rugby at the school
- Raises funds for the use by the Rugby community through catering at CGS home games and running of special events
- Spends these funds on items or activities of direct benefit to CGS Rugby Players.
In the past, funds have been spent on things such as:
- Travel to rugby games or tours
- Gym and training equipment
- Specialist training services
- Rugby balls for presentation to junior players
- Mugs for senior players as they leave CGS
In November 2010, the Association provided significant funds to the school to the tune of $2600 for a new "Smith Machine" in the gym and $195 for a Junior "Passing Target". We welcome any suggestions of how to spend the funds raised - these belong to the whole Rugby community at CGS.
We generally meet on the first Wednesday of every month in a room in the school PE Centre next to the gym.
The Association consists of all parents of CGS Rugby Players, elected officeholders and the Masters-in-charge of Rugby (Senior and Junior Schools).
Current officeholders are:
- President - Peter Doherty
- Vice President - Greg Pickering
- Treasurer - Bill Teece
- Secretary and Catering Manager - Judy Turbayne
- Publicity - Dr Bruce Faraday ("Doc")
Regards,
Peter Doherty
