Tuesday, September 11, 6pm-8pm: Grading examination for all students. PHPDE centre. Spectators and parents welcome, will include trial run for those students grading for black belt later in the year.

Saturday, November 3, time to be confirmed: Grading examination for those applying for brown belt and above.

September 11, Black belt applicants trial run:
Two students who are possibly grading for black belt in November will be given a complete and public rehearsal grading at the September 11 grading.
Expect plenty of self defence drills, breaking and sparring. The aim of the CGS taekwondo program is not just to provide a toe-in-the-water experience of taekwondo-it is to develop students over several years to a point where they could actually pass a black belt exam. With the program now having been in operation for four years, I'm very proud that the first group of students are almost ready to do exactly that. There are another half dozen or so students who are currently brown tip or above who are likely to have black belt exams of their own in 2008.

Canberra Grammar is one of the few schools in Australia to offer martial arts as part of the co-curricular program, taking boys from absolute beginners through to an eventual black belt examination.

The classes are demanding, the discipline intense, the techniques spectacular, and the boys carry their skills with them for the rest of their lives.

With over 100 boys in the program, taekwondo is one of the fastest growing co-curricular activities at the school. Curious to see what goes on? Check out the links on the right.
