ASC Swimming After the school swimming carnival, a team of 25 boys was selected to represent Grammar at the ASC swimming competition. The day began with the 4x50 relays for each age group, where Grammar staked their claim to be the best boys school team winning several of these relays. Grammar lead throughout the rest of the day. In the backstroke events Grammar swimmers came either first or second in all their heats. The day highlighted the boys' talent and showed off the hard work put in at training, with several boys swimming personal bests. With no limit to how many races a boy could swim, some swimmers swam 6 or 7 events. With Marist close on their tail, the Grammar swimmers put in a special effort for the last few events. Grammar came out on top of the boys point score, defeating Marist by 1 point and regaining the prestigious ASC Shield. There were many great performances from boys who placed in the top 3 of their event, Ben Treffers, Ben Wise, Hamish Wise, Chris McClelland, Nick McClelland, Nicholas Honey, Declan Moore, Peter Bennet, Robert Albertson-Kill, Mitchell Nemec, Hugo Morris, Hamish Hardy, Will Barker, James Dowden and Thomas Gasson. A big well done to everyone that swam on the day. ACT Swimming On Friday 5 May, 25 boys competed in the ACT Secondary schools swimming carnival. The carnival was a good chance for boys to improve on their results at the ASC carnival and also be selected in the ACT squad to go to Hobart later this year. The day began slowly with many Grammar boys swimming up into top 3 placing's in the 200 IM. This set the trend for the day with many boys coming in the top 3 of their events and as a result will be considered for the ACT team. After a long day the carnival came to a conclusion with many tired but happy boys. There were many great performances and it was a great day for the Grammar swimmers.
