CGS v St Edmund's College

After an exciting first innings win against Eddies last week, the Ist XI were ready to try and achieve outright success on day 2 of the match. Day 2 saw a delayed start due to wet conditions during the week; however Grammar was still ready to play. Another sturdy platform was laid by Elliot Geddes and Alex Tridgell, and again Thomas Pilkinton was the rock of the innings with a solid 24. In tough batting conditions and midway through the 2nd day, CGS was bowled out with a lead of 120 leaving Ryan Goodman stranded on 0 not out.

The boys approached their time in the field with huge enthusiasm looking to really press for a rare outright win. Te enthusiasm was exemplified by two wonderful run outs from Dave Bennet earning him two frozen cokes. Tom Pilkinton and Dave Bennet performed admirably with the ball taking two wickets apiece, but unfortunately Grammar fell two wickets shy of an outright win. Eddies ended the day on 8 for 78 leaving Grammar 1st innings victors. An admirable effort from the boys to restore some pride after last round's disappointing result against Radford.
