If you are considering joining our School, then you'd be right to ask what makes us distinctive.
There are many things: our large and beautiful campus in the heart of our nation's capital, our connections with the leading institutions of our city, our academic success, our proud traditions in sport, the excellence of our music and drama, our adventurous outdoor education program, the quality of our house system and, of course, the calibre of our staff. We are the only boys' school in the ACT to offer a boarding experience to local, regional and international students, and we have a scholarships program unparalleled in Canberra.
Above all, however, we are distinguished by our students; they are our finest ambassadors. They are diverse - we welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds - and they are engaging. When you meet them, you will perceive their open sincerity. They have high academic aspirations and they take their studies seriously. They care for each other in daily life and through the School's mentoring and house systems; and they enjoy long after their time at School the camaraderie that comes of playing sport, performing, camping and giving in community service together.
It is our aspiration that our students become intelligent, innovative and international in outlook, confident, creative and compassionate young leaders of the future. All that we do in our academic curriculum, our pastoral care, our co-curricular life and our outreach programs is designed to support that aspiration, as you can see in the Senior and Primary sections of this website.
If that too is your aspiration, then you will understand why Canberra Grammar School is for you. We welcome your interest and warmly invite you to explore our website and our School.
Our admissions policy reflects our core values and places emphasis on providing opportunities through scholarships (in Years 7 and 11) for students with particular academic and other talents. We also aim to nurture existing family connections with the School wherever possible, while responding to the dynamic nature of Canberra's population.
